Diane Sanderson & Wayne Martin

Happy couple finds the perfect family home in Waterbeach

Nursery Manager Diane Sanderson and her partner Wayne Martin have recently bought their first house together with their young daughter at Haling Place, Annington’s development of refurbished homes in Waterbeach.

Having previously lived in a rented property in nearby Cherry Hinton, when the opportunity arose to buy a house in the area they knew it was too good to miss. Diane comments: “We have lived in this area for many years and have established a good network of friends. We were concerned that we would have to move further away to find a house that we liked and could afford.  We were delighted when we found this house as the location is brilliant and there are lots of good schools in the area which is increasingly becoming a priority for us as our daughter is due to start school next year.”

Waterbeach has a strong sense of community bringing many families to the area in search of good local schools and playgroups, which include Shirley Community Nursery and Primary School and Chesterton Community College, which both achieved a ‘good’ report in their latest Ofsted reports.

Angela Walsh, Head of Sales and Marketing at Annington, comments: “As well as the onsite Little Stars Day Nursery, the community atmosphere at Haling Place makes it the ideal place for families with young children to put down roots.”

Wayne added: “Waterbeach is in a brilliant location and it’s very easy for us to commute to work.  We often take the train into Cambridge at the weekends with our daughter.  Financially the move has made sense for us as we see this purchase as a long term investment and a way to secure a future for our daughter.

“As first time buyers we were nervous about buying our first house and concerned that financially we would be stretched to our limit. We are extremely impressed with the standard of refurbishment undertaken by Annington and haven’t had to spend any extra money since moving in.”

Haling Place is ideally located, with nearby Waterbeach High Street offering a selection of shops, cafes and pubs, as well as a library. There are two local schools in the area; Waterbeach Community Primary School and Cottenham Village College, making it a popular choice for families of all ages.  Approximately seven miles from Cambridge city centre, Waterbeach’s extensive transport connections also make it an ideal location for commuters. There is easy access to the nearby A10, and the railway station provides a direct service to Cambridge, with journey times of approximately seven minutes, and to London King’s Cross in just over an hour.
