Downsizing can be a daunting prospect. Less space, fewer rooms, smaller piece of land… It can be quite a tough adjustment to make, especially when you’ve accumulated so much over the years. Luckily, Kim and Trevor Woods fell in love with a spacious Annington home at Bordon in Hampshire – and it didn’t seem like a squeeze at all.
The move not only helped them pay off their mortgage, but they found there was still more than enough space for them.
“Size wise it really wasn’t much of a downsize,” says Kim, 60, who is a medical secretary at a hospital in nearby Farnham. “The garden is smaller, but we didn’t want the worry of a big garden. Otherwise the rooms are a good size and pretty much the same as we had before.”
We had also fully refurbished the house so they could move straight in, without any work to do. There was a separate kitchen, dining room and lounge, fresh carpets, flooring and a shiny new energy-efficient boiler. Plus, we were there to make sure everything went swimmingly. “We were lucky as it all went so smoothly,” explains Kim. “We kept in touch with Hayley Stock at Annington all the way through.”
