Being a good corporate citizen and being commercially successful. Just like our customers, we believe they can live happily together, hand in hand. We work hard to make an impact on the community around us, the customers we serve, the world we live in and people who work for us. And we’re constantly looking to improve.
Continuing the good work first reported in our inaugural report in 2021-22, this year we completed our first Materiality Assessment. That understanding of what our stakeholders, inside and outside the business, believe is important for Annington has informed our new ESG 2035 Strategy, which focusses on Climate Resilience and People & Communities. We are delighted to share our progress in this year's ESG Report 2022-23.
Put simply, we’re dedicated to making things better. Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives recognise that a changing society demands a changing outlook, particularly regarding environmental issues.
Last year, as part of our continuing commitment to corporate responsibility, we took a fresh look at our approach to ESG with the help of a specialist ESG and sustainability consultancy.
We reviewed our achievements and successes and looked at areas where we could improve. The recommendations of that review are helping us to better align with reporting frameworks and standards including
and particularly
where we are making a substantial contribution.
Together, under review from the Board, we will strive to embed sustainability and responsibility across the entire business and report our progress clearly to all our stakeholders.

Last year we asked Litchfield to help us understand the effect we are having in the places where we are bringing homes back to the market. We chose two of our bigger sites at Bordon and Brize Norton and the reports show that we are making a positive impact to the communities that we work in.

We take the health and safety of both our staff and our contractors seriously and maintain a strong H&S record. Everyone at Annington undertakes regular H&S training and we also have a programme of monthly inspections on all our active redevelopment sites, above and beyond our statutory requirements.
