Downsizer Sally Harmer had never considered buying a retrofitted home before, but after buying her own home at Sovereign Gate in Chatham, she discovered that switching from new build to refurbished meant her monthly bills had gone down by over 70% and she could save over £4,000 a year.
While Ramsay Street may be a made-up Australian cul-de-sac for the soap opera Neighbours, fiction became reality for Sally after she found her new home in Chatham.
Sally says: “As soon as I walked in, I just knew this was my home,” she said. “I fell in love with everything about the house, the homes are really nice to look at, the generous size of the garden, even the walls! It sounds silly but having only lived in new-build homes before, living with paper thin walls has become the norm, but these properties are so sturdy, it makes such a difference for insulation and privacy.”
Pleased with her find, Sally was quick to share the good news. She explains: “I know how hard finding the right home can be in the current market, so when my friend’s had a sale fall through on a home they wanted to buy, I told them about Sovereign Gate and they loved it as much as I did and purchased a home there too. It’s so lovely to have two of my best friends down the road from me.”
