First time buyers Dawn Somerville and Oliver Jenner have recently purchased a two bedroom house at Mayflower Green; Annington’s collection of spacious, refurbished properties in Henlow.
The couple, who had been renting a one bedroom property in nearby Hitchin, have upsized in the process. Dawn, a clinical photographer, comments: “We were renting before in a one bed house with a very small garden and we wanted to own our own place. We were looking for somewhere bigger and we were tired of our money not being invested. We also loved the idea of adding creativity and style to our own home.”
The property’s location, the space it offers and the development’s surrounding green open spaces were all key factors that helped to influence the couple’s decision. Oliver, a chef, says: “As first time buyers we wanted something within our price range that didn’t need large amounts of work. The new kitchen and bathroom were a big selling point for us. The lovely views and surrounding countryside were also appealing as we have a dog. Being close to work now means that our daily commute is straightforward for us both.”
All homes at Mayflower Green have undergone extensive refurbishment, with new kitchens and bathrooms fitted in all of the properties, meaning they are ready to move into.
Angela Walsh, Head of Sales and Marketing at Annington, explains: “We wanted to breathe new life into these homes and create a welcoming development suitable for a range of buyers, and we are delighted to say that is what we have achieved. There is a further range of homes released for sale this month, and there will be a final release of properties later in the summer.”
A vibrant community has blossomed since Mayflower Green launched in 2014, and the welcoming atmosphere has already been noted by Dawn, who adds: “Oliver and I both moved away from Surrey just over a year ago and we didn’t know many people around the area. Moving to Mayflower Green has given us the chance to make new friends and we have become very close to the neighbours we have met. We’ve also been made to feel very welcome by Annington who have given us a great deal of support; they are very friendly and easy to approach.”
Mayflower Green is set amongst the beautiful landscape of rural Bedfordshire, close to Henlow village. Residents benefit from excellent local road and rail transport connections. Arlesey Station, which offers commuters a direct train service to London King’s Cross in less than 40 minutes, is a four mile drive from the development. The village is well served by a range of schools, including Raynsford VC Lower School, Stondon Lower School and Meppershall Church of England Academy. The local pub, The Bird in Hand is a ten minute walk away.« Back to testimonials page
