REFURBISHED MOD HOMES AT ‘THE PINES’ CELEBRATES ITS 75TH HOMEOWNER

Annington, one of the largest private real estate owners in the UK, is celebrating the achievement of a new milestone at The Pines in Bordon, where its 75th resident moved in earlier this month. Now nearly sold out, The Pines has proven exceptionally popular with buyers since its launch in spring last year, and just six three-bedroom homes remain available for sale.

Bordon was initially redeveloped under the Government’s Eco-Towns initiative, and in 2016 was selected as one of 10 NHS England Healthy New Town sites across the country. The regeneration of the town saw the creation of 60 miles of walking and cycling paths, alongside new play areas, and the provision of support for vulnerable people, all with a goal to encourage healthy, active and independent living.

For The Pines’ newest homeowner, Catriona McGill, belonging to a growing new community was a key factor in her decision to move. Catriona, alongside her partner, young son and family dog, sized up to a three-bedroom refurbished home. “We were all squeezed into a one-bedroom apartment in Aldershot before this, which was absolutely bursting at the seams!” she says. “When we finally got the keys, we didn’t know what to do with all the extra space. With a young family, having room to grow is essential. Now we’re within walking distance to Hogmoor Inclosure, the local primary school is just behind the development, and The Shed is across the road. When you think about the location and the size of the property, it’s incredible value for money.”

Annington’s offering at The Pines is unique in Bordon, where the town has seen extensive development of new build homes over recent years. Annington has chosen to retrofit existing homes, which were formerly used as housing for Service personnel, via an extensive refurbishment programme - a sustainable alternative to demolishing and building new.

Catriona adds: “We viewed new builds and older properties alike, but nothing matched what’s on offer at The Pines. We noticed straight away that new homes are built a lot smaller than older housing stock, for example, with little gardens or a postage stamp for a third bedroom. Likewise, the older houses needed a lot of work, and as we were sizing up from a shared ownership apartment, we didn’t have the budget. What I love about our new home is that we don’t have to compromise on anything – the property has the generous square footage of an older home, but comes complete with a brand new kitchen and bathroom.”

Louise Saunders, Head of Sales and Marketing at Annington, comments: “The success of the development is a testament to the fact that reviving and rejuvenating existing housing stock is the way forward, and much like the investment that has regenerated Bordon town, so is this ethos reflected in the refurbishment at The Pines.

A great level of care has gone into bringing these homes up to modern standards, from refitting the kitchens and bathrooms to installing an external thermal render to improve the energy efficiency of the homes. From our very first launch weekend where we welcomed over 36 prospective homebuyers to our milestone 75th completion this month, the beauty of the development is that there is something to suit everyone, including second steppers like Catriona”

Just six homes remain available at The Pines in Bordon, Hampshire, where prices start from £295,000. To find out more and book a viewing, contact the dedicated selling agent Fox & Sons by calling 023 9226 2447 or email sales@thepinesbordon.com.
