Pupils at Portesbery School have teamed up with Annington to transform construction hoarding at The Weald in Mindenhurst, Surrey, into a vibrant display of creativity with pictures made using housebuilding tools.
Portesbery School provides a supportive and enriching educational environment for children aged 3 to 19 years with a range of learning needs. The school is located just minutes away from where Annington is currently refurbishing over 200 homes for let, known as The Weald.
With help from teachers, students creatively used construction tools to create images of vases and sunflowers in frames, to represent the new life coming to the community. Using hammers, saws, and paintbrushes to flatten the sunflowers, create wooden frames, and paint the background, the interactive activity helped link the artwork back to the process of the homes being transformed by Annington.
The students also created a number of pieces to show the different types of homes that can be found across the world.
Nathan Aspinall, Head Teacher at Portesbery School, comments: “This project has been a meaningful opportunity to engage with the local community and for our students to express themselves creatively. Seeing their artwork showcased on such a large scale has filled them with confidence and joy, and we are so proud of them and their creations.”
Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, added: “Working with Portesbery School again has been a fantastic and rewarding experience. We are committed to offering more than just homes at The Weald and to support the surrounding community in Mindenhurst. Seeing the students’ artwork bring our hoardings to life not only adds colour to the site but also reflects the spirit of inclusion and collaboration that we value.”
Annington is launching a collection of fully refurbished two, three and four-bedroom homes at The Weald, available to let from summer 2025.
