DONATION FROM ANNINGTON IS PITCH PERFECT FOR SERVICE FAMILIES IN MEDWAY

An organisation dedicated to helping parents within the Medway area give their children the best possible start in life has received a £400 donation from Annington, the company responsible for refurbishing former MOD homes at the nearby Sovereign Gate development. The donation to Home Start Medway will support free Musical Bumps sessions for Service families, allowing children to learn and share new musical skills.

The Army Musical Bumps classes in Brompton, which are being partly funded by Annington, will run on Mondays at 2.15pm-3pm at Lampard Centre on Sally Port Gardens, and is just one of the weekly groups which are run by Home-Start Medway. Home-Start has been running for nearly 40 years and this Medway location is one of 250 across the country, which all focus on alleviating isolation, fostering children's growth, providing parents with both peer and professional support, and offering referrals to other services as required.

Raz Goodred, CEO at Home-Start Medway commented: “Our Musical Bumps sessions are really important to Service families, and while it’s great to see the kids loving the classes, it’s equally important for the parents to come along and meet other people. The situations that these families find themselves in can often feel quite isolating, especially for those who are new to the area. Through the sessions, they have the opportunity to connect with one another, learn more about the group, and discover how we can be of help if needed. We’re grateful for the donation from Annington, which will assist in providing sessions for local Service families, supporting children’s speech and language development and sparking their musical interest.”

Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, added: “We’re always proud to provide assistance towards Service families when we get the chance, and we hope these sessions help form close bonds within the local area and create a network of support for those who really need it. Annington places a great deal of importance on supporting communities, particularly when such a valuable cause is just a short walk from our Sovereign Gate homes, we are glad to play a small part through our donation.”
