Annington, the company behind the popular refurbished homes on Howard Road in Strensall, has donated £800 to the local York Karate Dojo, allowing the club to purchase new and better-quality kits for its members.
Established in 2012, York Karate Dojo provides an exceptional standard of karate training to almost 200 members, most of whom train on a weekly basis. Annington’s donation has allowed the club to purchase brand new kits for its competition squad and assist in its training for members of the local community. Whilst operating in the heart of Strensall, the club also teaches in Joseph Rowntree School on Haxby Road and Archbishop Holgate School on Hull Road.
Simon Flint, from York Karate Dojo, comments: “As a Dojo, we aim to train those who are highly determined to perform to the highest standard, and having the correct uniform is an essential part of such training and achieving one's potential in karate. We are grateful for Annington’s generous donation, the new kits have come at the perfect time, allowing us to put our best foot forward as York’s most successful karate club in terms of black belt grading success, as well as medal wins both on a national and international level.”
Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, adds: “From self-confidence to teamwork skills, sports clubs like York Karate Dojo are so important, and Annington believes it is essential to support community pillar organisations such as this. We are happy that our donation has helped the club purchase new kit and hope to see some of our current and future residents all kitted out!”
