Annington has donated £500 to York Foodbank to support its vital work helping those facing hardship across the city. The money will help provide essential food parcels, at a time when one in five people in the UK are living below the poverty line.
Over the last year, the foodbank supplied 8,123 three-day emergency food packages to people in crisis, while helping to feed between 100 and 150 people on a weekly basis. In addition, it works with partner organisations to offer financial advice and other practical support to those in need.
Adam Raffell, York Foodbank Manager, said: “The cost-of-living crisis has left many people struggling to cover even the essential costs of keeping a roof over their heads, the electricity on and food on the table.
“In recent months we have noticed a fall-off in food donations as households face rising costs themselves. Financial support like this has never been more important and we are very grateful to companies like Annington for their help.”
This latest donation forms part of Annington’s ongoing commitment to support the local communities surrounding its homes in Linton-on-Ouse.

With household budgets continuing to be stretched by rising living costs, demand for foodbank services remains high.
