ANNINGTON GETS READY TO LAUNCH SUSTAINABLE RETROFIT DEVELOPMENT IN DEVIZES

Annington, the developer responsible for refurbishing former MOD housing, is launching its new sustainable retrofit development at Devizes in Marlborough, combining traditional country living with environmentally friendly homes, targeting EPC rating A. Once complete, Marlborough Close will offer 5 four-bedroom homes which will be available to buy from early next year.

Sustainability has been at the heart of the development at Marlborough Close, transforming five tired and energy inefficient properties into more efficient and smarter homes. The team has taken a ‘fabric first’ approach to ensure any energy used is retained, as well introducing smart technologies, including the Mixergy Smart Cylinder tank and Air Source Heat Pumps, in tandem with 14 PV panels at 5.6kwh per house to utilise the energy consumed within the properties. The homes come fitted with brand new double-glazed windows, insulated front doors, energy efficient built-in appliances as well as thermal rendering, and EV charging points. The smart green technology and appliances installed throughout the homes will naturally appeal to buyers keen to reduce their carbon footprint and reduce their energy bills.

Scott Page, Project Manager at Annington, comments: “This project at Marlborough Close is a unique retrofit project and marks a real milestone for Annington. We have taken a fabric first approach making sure that the heat generated within the home is retained through enhanced insulation and smart technologies. Our priority is to reduce the operational carbon of these properties for the long term and by targeting an EPC uplift to an A rating, we are taking the necessary steps to get there.”

Jane Harsham, Sustainability Manager at Annington, adds: “We recognise that the construction industry has a major role to play if the UK is to achieve its national goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions and its 2050 net zero ambitions. Nationally we need to work towards decarbonising our building stock, reducing pressure on the national grid and create cleaner and greener energy for our homes. We acknowledge we have a role to play and this refurbishment project at Marlborough Close sees Annington incorporate innovative technology into these former military homes that aim to deliver smarter living and hugely improved energy efficiency for future occupiers.”

Devizes is a historic market town with a thriving community with independent shops and local amenities. The area is host to several events throughout the year, including an annual arts festival, a summer festival and carnival, and a Christmas lantern parade. The Kennet & Avon Canal runs through the town, and the major cities of Bath, Salisbury and Swindon are all closely linked.
