22-YEAR OLD SITE MANAGER SHORTLISTED FOR WOMEN IN PROPERTY AWARD

A local site manager has been shortlisted for one of the UK property industry’s most prestigious awards.

Savanna Hand, who is currently working on Annington’s The Weald development in Mindenhurst, Surrey, has been named a finalist in the Rising Star category at the Inspiring Women in Property Awards.

The 22-year-old impressed judges with her hands-on leadership, work ethic and remarkable career progression from labourer to site manager in just three years, balancing the demands of a busy construction site with evenings spent studying for professional qualifications.

Savanna previously worked as a community police officer before pursuing her dream of a career in construction. Since joining Annington, she has managed two major developments at Netheravon in Wiltshire and Linton on Ouse in North Yorkshire.

She said: "It's a real honour to be shortlisted alongside so many incredible women who are helping to shape the future of an industry where women still make up only around 15% of the workforce. As a woman in construction, I want to challenge outdated perceptions by showing that leadership on site is defined by capability, commitment and teamwork - not gender.

"Construction is a rewarding and fulfilling career with opportunities for people from all backgrounds. I hope my journey encourages more women to consider the sector and the wide range of careers it has to offer."

Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, said: "Savanna has an incredible talent for managing the many different trades and contractors involved on a construction site with a calm confidence that inspires everyone around her. She has developed an understanding of the industry far beyond her years and brings enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to everything she does. We are incredibly proud to see her recognised at a national level."

The Inspiring Women in Property Awards will be held in the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on 22nd of September. They celebrate the achievements of women and organisations across the UK property industry, recognising innovation, leadership, D & I initiatives and the impact women are making across the sector.
