While lockdown has brought many people together, it’s no surprise that most of us are craving a bit of our own space.
This may explain the rising popularity of ‘man caves’ across the country, with sales of garden buildings having trebled over just a few months. From back-garden bars to garage workshops, the trend has really taken off and IT Manager Tony Sheehan, 47, is no exception.
Tony decided to purchase a new three-bedroom link-detached home at Annington’s The Crescent in Carterton, Oxfordshire, which had plenty of room for his hobbies thanks to the large garage and parking space. He said: “I have a passion for motorcycling, and now that I have a large garage there is plenty of storage space for me to take full advantage of. I also enjoy the occasional DIY job so it’s great to have space for all my tools. The fact that the house is detached means that I can enjoy both of these things, and listen to music, without having to worry about the noise bothering any of the neighbours.”
Of the 135 new homes being built at The Crescent, there are more than half a dozen different house types on offer, all of which have a varied outside appearance and internal layout. This creates an interesting street scene and provides options for people with a variety of different lifestyles.
“With just over a hundred homes it’s not a massive development. There are a few play areas for children, providing areas of open green space. I wouldn’t want to live somewhere that you could only see more houses, whichever way you looked.”
Tony continues, “One of the things which really attracted me to the property was the layout of the house. I particularly liked how spacious it was downstairs. There are two main rooms that provide a good amount of living space which I was not expecting in a house at this price.” Tony purchased his home for £300,000 using a 20% deposit which came from the equity released when selling his previous home.
“The Crescent is in a great location in terms of its proximity to the town,” adds Tony. “I’ve lived in Carterton for a long time, so I’m familiar with the area and it’s nice to be in a place where I have friends and family nearby.”« Back to testimonials page
