From renting to owning: family buy their perfect home in Haling Place


Dan Stanciu, his wife Ofelia and their daughter Ariana liked their rented property at Haling Place so much that they have since decided to buy a house there permanently.

Dan, a Software Engineer comments: “We were living in another three bedroom house in Haling Place which we loved. When another home came onto the market we were delighted because we wanted to stay in the neighbourhood; it’s a really quiet and relaxing environment, perfect for us and our daughter.”

The location of Haling Place, which is seven miles from Cambridge, made the home even more attractive for Dan and Ofelia. Dan remarks: “The quick commute time to work means that I can cycle into Cambridge which is a lovely route when the weather is nice. It’s also great for Ofelia who can get to work in less than 30 minutes.”   

Ofelia, an IT Consultant in Cambridge, has found the welcoming community atmosphere at Haling Place a key factor in their purchase. She comments: “Haling Place mostly consists of young couples with children and the people we’ve met here are very friendly, sometimes we get together for a BBQ! It’s been lovely for us and Ariana who’s three to meet new friends in the neighbourhood.”

There are two local schools in the area; Waterbeach Community Primary School and Cottenham Village College, making it a popular choice for families of all ages.  The Haling Way, which offers a pleasant cycling path into Cambridge, is easily accessed from the development.

Waterbeach’s extensive transport connections also make it an ideal location for commuters. There is easy access to the nearby A10, and the railway station provides a direct service to Cambridge, with journey times approximately seven minutes, and to London King’s Cross in just over an hour.
