With house prices in London having risen by 6.5% in the last 12 months* many would-be home owners are being forced out of the property market in the capital. It is no surprise then that more and more people are looking towards the commuter belt outside the city to find more space and better value for money when making decisions on their next move. Such was the case of Ash Bharwaj and his wife Namita, who chose to move from Camden, in North London, to Annington Homes’ Bushey development, where they found a spacious family home in which their two-year-old son could grow up.
Ash comments: “With my son approaching his toddler years, my wife and I knew that the two-bedroom property we were living in would soon become too crowded and decided it was the perfect time to leave London and move more into the suburbs. Finding somewhere with lots of outdoor space in which our son could play and grow was very important, but – being used to the high London prices – we were concerned we wouldn’t be able to afford a home that could offer us that. Annington Homes’ properties are renowned for their large room proportions and value for money, and we knew that their Bushey development was the right place for us to go.”
Offering a welcoming community atmosphere, surrounded by green countryside but within 15 miles of London, Bushey is extremely popular with families wanting a home outside of the city. Ash comments: “The Bushey site offers such a lovely welcoming atmosphere; every time Namita and I visited we got chatting to new people. We also knew it would be a great base for the long-term, as there are numerous good schools nearby that our son could attend. We had our hearts set on living there, and were very lucky that our friends stumbled across one of the newly released houses on their morning walk and told us so we could view before other people had the chance to!”
Owing to its former use as a military residence, the Bharwaj family’s four-bedroom home offers larger-than-average room sizes and a good sized garden. Having been decorated in neutral colours, the home was ready to move into immediately and provided a blank canvas for the family to make their home their own.
The houses at Bushey enjoy a prime location, close to both the M25 and M1 and only 15 miles from London. Ideal for Namita, who works in the city, both Bushey and Watford Junction station offer a journey into Euston of approximately 20 minutes.
The homes are located within easy reach of all the shops and restaurants in Bushey town centre, as well as the wider range of shops, restaurants and entertainment in the neighbouring towns of Stanmore and Watford, each just around three miles away. The area boasts several good schools, including Bushey Meads School and Ashfield Junior School, each of which achieved ‘good’ ratings in their latest Ofsted reports.
Ash says: “Bushey really does offer everything we could ever need. We’re close enough to the city that we can easily access the cultural attractions, but we’re far enough out that we avoid the bustle and can enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. There are lots of families living around here, making the most of the surrounding good schools and safe neighbourhood, and there’s a great sense of community spirit. We’ve found our perfect family home and hope to be here for many years to come.”« Back to testimonials page
