History of Uxbridge
After Uxbridge emerged as a commercial centre in the early 12th century, economic expansion and most of the recorded social activity of the parish were concentrated there. For about 200 years most of London's flour was produced in the Uxbridge area. There were also breweries in the town; the last of which, Harman's, was based in the High Street and was still in operation up until the early nineteen sixties.
