St. Columb Minor is a village situated on the North Coast of Cornwall, close to St. Columb Major and just two miles east of Newquay. St. Columb Minor originally used to be the main settlement in the local area but has since given way to its larger neighbouring town. Over the years Newquay has extended to the outskirts of the village however St. Columb Minor has retained its intimate village atmosphere.
Local Amenities
The neighbouring areas have an extensive selection of pubs such as the Silver Ball, Queen & Railway Inn, Ring O’Bells and the Coaching Inn. There are also local shops within the surrounding villages as well as a more varied and wider selection available in Newquay.
Transport
By road, St. Columb Minor is located just off the A30 allowing easy access by road to more southern parts of Cornwall as well as Devon to the east - Plymouth is approximately 50 miles away.
Newquay train station has good rail links and is the terminus of the Atlantic Coast Line that runs from Par railway station. It is operated by First Great Western trains. There is also a local airport situated in Newquay serving both internal and European flight destinations during high season.
Education
St. Columb Minor School is the local primary school of the village serving children aged between 5-11 years old. Other local schools within the surrounding area include St Columb Major Community Primary School, Newquay Junior School and Newquay Tretherras School.
