Nestled in the London Borough of Hillingdon, the commuter belt area that is home to 800 acres of woodland and known for its community spirit, is the charming town of Northwood. Boasting pretty Victorian architecture and good transport connections into central London, this suburban town located in the northwest region of Greater London is an ideal destination for city slickers who want to raise a family outside of the capital.

Whilst Northwood itself boasts a pretty Victorian high street of local shops and restaurants, residents are well placed to enjoy the wider variety of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities in the larger nearby towns of Rickmansworth and Watford, each approximately four miles away.

Sporting enthusiasts can enjoy no less than six golf clubs within a two-mile radius of the town, whilst those who prefer to raise their heart rate a little can enjoy long walks, runs or bike rides either a mile and a half away in Oxhey Woods or two and a half miles away in Copse Wood or Bishop’s Wood. Football fans can cheer on Northwood F.C at Northwood Park Stadium, or, in the summer months, head to the Duck Hill Road cricket ground to watch the local team play.

Northwood town boasts a number of good schools, including St Helen’s School and St Martin’s School, which cater for 3-18 year old girls and boys respectively, as well as Frithwood Primary School, which achieved a ‘good’ rating in its latest Ofsted report. Higher education students are also well catered for in the local area, with Brunel University approximately seven miles away in Uxbridge, part of the University College London campus 19 miles away in London, and the University of Reading around 40 miles to the west.

The town has good transport links with the surrounding area; Northwood tube station is located in zone six on the Metropolitan line, and residents are also within three miles of Northwood Hills and Moor Park stations, each providing easy access to all major stations within the capital. Nestled inside the M25 and approximately six miles from the M1, Northwood boasts great road access to central London as well as the surrounding counties.
