Donnington is a suburb of the new town of Telford, located in the borough of Telford and Wrekin in Shropshire. The current centre of Donnington is originally the centre of New Donnington - a development that began in the late 1930s to provide housing for the workers who would work at the then new MOD Donnington British Army Depot.

The MoD Donnington was once one of the largest military stores in Europe but since the end of the Cold War declined in both importance and size.


Local Amenities

Donnington is recognised as one of the best food retail served suburbs in the country with a Co-operative Food, Aldi and Asda superstore.  Donnington has a plethora of pubs in the area, including The Bulls Head, The Fountain Inn, Trench Tavern and The Blue Pig.  There are also two notable restaurants in the area called The Clockhouse restaurant and Tin Tin's.


Transport

Donnington lies just north of the M54 and west of the M6, which both provide ease of access into Birmingham. It is also located just 15 miles east of Shrewsbury, connected by the A5.


Education

Donnington has a selection of local schools, including The Sutherland School, Charlton School, Lilleshall and Muxton Primary Schools in the area.
