Gravesend is a town situated in northwest Kent, on the south bank of the River Thames. It is approximately 25 miles from central London.

Gravesend is home to several shopping centres and thus serves a large area of the surrounding country as a shopping hub. It also has a good range of local shops as well as two markets.
Transport
Gravesend lies just off the A2, which connects to the M25 approximately 5 miles down the road. Gravesend is also within easy reach of the M2 and M20 connecting the town to Maidstone and further parts of the county such as Faversham and Canterbury. Additionally, Gravesend railway station provides direct train routes into central London through services operated by Southeastern trains.
Education
Gravesend has a good selection of secondary schools, such as Gravesend Grammar School; Gravesend Grammar School for Girls; St Johns Catholic Comprehensive School; Thamesview School and St George's Church of England School. There is also a broad range of junior and primary schools in the area, such as Riverview Junior School; Shears Green Junior School; Kings Farm Primary School; and Raynehurst Primary School.
