Birkenhead is a town situated on the Wirral Peninsula in the county of Merseyside and in close proximity to Liverpool. Today Birkenhead has an estimated population of 84,000.
Local Amenities
Birkenhead has a strong selection of local shops and post offices as well as numerous pubs in both the town centre and surrounding area such as The Royal, The Beehive, and the Garrick Snug. It is also within easy reach of Liverpool which is home to Liverpool ONE, the largest shopping centre in the county.
Transport
Two road tunnels, running underneath the River Mersey, connect Birkenhead to Liverpool where there are extensive train connections to all parts of the UK. Birkenhead is also within easy reach of Junctions 1 and 3 of the M53 motorway, providing quick access to the national motorway network. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is located about eight miles from Birkenhead town centre, from which six airlines operate flights to wide variety of destinations.

Birkenhead has a wide selection of schools in the area. Local primary schools include Woodlands Primary School, Devonshire Park Primary School and Mersey Park Primary School. Junior and Senior schools include Higher Bebington Junior School, Calday Grange Grammar School as well as Birkenhead School and Birkenhead High School For Girls (both independent).
